This Earth Month, Scottsdale Quarter is proud to highlight a selection of brands that are making an impact through more sustainable practices and thoughtful production. From circular fashion and resale programs to responsible materials, packaging initiatives, and long-lasting product design, these businesses are finding meaningful ways to reduce their environmental footprint. While each brand approaches sustainability differently, they share a common goal of creating products and experiences that are better for people and the planet. By supporting these brands, our community can take small steps toward a more sustainable future while shopping and dining at Scottsdale Quarter.

Levi’s

Trade in your pre-loved Levi’s for a gift card in the value of your trade-in. Levi’s water<Less® program also reduces the amount of water used in denim production, which is significant. Levi’s also promotes circular fashion through repair, resale, and its “Buy Better, Wear Longer” initiative, encouraging consumers to purchase fewer, longer-lasting items.

Marine Layer

Marine Layer focuses on sustainability through recycled and natural fabrics, including recycled cotton and modal made from sustainable wood sources. The brand also runs a recycling program that collects old T-shirts in exchange for store credit and turns them into new clothing or recycled fibers, helping reduce textile waste. Marine Layer emphasizes soft, durable clothing designed to last, which supports a more sustainable, slow-fashion approach.

Sephora

Sephora promotes sustainability through its Beauty (Re)Purposed recycling program, allowing customers to recycle empty beauty packaging, and its Clean at Sephora initiative, which highlights products made without certain harmful ingredients. Together, these efforts reduce waste and encourage more environmentally conscious shopping.

rag & bone

rag & bone focuses on durability and waste reduction, emphasizing long-lasting products and repair-focused quality initiatives. A key effort is its denim recycling program, which invites customers to return old jeans from any brand in exchange for a 25% discount, with the collected denim recycled through the Blue Jeans Go Green™ program into new materials like insulation instead of ending up in landfills.

Faherty

Faherty uses responsible materials like organic cotton, recycled fibers, linen, and hemp, which have a lower environmental impact than traditional fabrics. The brand is also a certified B Corporation, meaning it meets high environmental and social responsibility standards. Faherty promotes circular fashion through its resale program, helping extend the life of clothing and reduce textile waste, while also emphasizing high-quality, timeless pieces designed to be worn for many years.

FASHIONPHILE

Fashionphile contributes to sustainability through resale, which supports a circular economy and reduces the demand for new luxury production. By extending the life cycle of designer handbags and accessories, Fashionphile helps reduce waste, resource use, and the environmental impact associated with manufacturing new products. Resale is considered one of the most sustainable retail models because it keeps existing products in use longer.

Reformation

Reformation is widely recognized as a leader in sustainable fashion due to its use of low-impact materials, carbon-neutral operations, and transparent sustainability reporting. The company tracks water use, carbon emissions, and waste for its products and focuses on reducing environmental impact across its supply chain. Reformation also promotes circular fashion through recycling and resale programs, helping reduce clothing waste and extend product life.

Warby Parker

Warby Parker makes an impact through both environmental and social sustainability initiatives. The company is carbon neutral and works to reduce its environmental footprint through responsible materials and packaging. Warby Parker is also known for its “Buy a Pair, Give a Pair” program, which helps provide eyewear to people in need around the world, combining sustainability with social responsibility and improved access to vision care.

Additional retailers are also making progress toward sustainability in a variety of ways. Brands like lululemon offer resale programs to extend product life, while Jenni Kayne, LoveShackFancy, Rails, and Veronica Beard, emphasize slow fashion through high-quality, timeless pieces designed to last for years. Local brand Jennifer Croll, sells upcycled vintage denim jackets that are handmade. Denim brands like PAIGE and rag & bone focus on reducing water, energy, and chemical use in denim production. YETI and Ariat contribute through durability and responsible sourcing, creating long-lasting products that reduce the need for frequent replacement, and retailers like Everything but Water support the 5 Gyres Institute’s mission by donating 25% of the purchase price of items marked with the Water is Everything heart icon. Together, these brands show that sustainability can take many forms, including recycled materials, circular programs, responsible production, and designing products with longevity in mind.
